What is Brain Food?
Brain Food is a functional nootropic stack designed to support cognitive performance, emotional resilience, and long-term brain health. It combines a microdose of psilocybin (the active compound in magic mushrooms), Lion’s Mane mushroom (known for stimulating nerve growth), and niacin (vitamin B3, which aids nutrient delivery to the brain). Together, these ingredients work synergistically to enhance focus, mood, creativity, and overall mental clarity—without the psychedelic effects of a full mushroom trip.
Who should avoid this supplement stack:
People with seizure conditions.
People with bipolar disorder or a personal/family history of psychosis.
People taking blood thinners.
People with heart conditions, high blood pressure or coronary artery disease
People with liver or kidney conditions.
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.
How does microdosing work?
Microdosing involves taking a very small, sub-perceptual dose of a psychedelic substance—typically around 1/10 to 1/20 of a standard dose. The goal isn’t to hallucinate, but to subtly activate the brain’s serotonin and neuroplasticity pathways. When done consistently and intentionally, microdosing can promote emotional balance, sharper thinking, and greater presence in daily life. Most people feel more focused, grounded, and energized—without feeling “high.”
What benefits can I expect?
Brain Food may support a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and physical benefits, including:
Increased focus, clarity, and creative thinking
Improved memory and mental performance
Reduced stress, anxiety, and emotional reactivity
Enhanced mood, motivation, and emotional resilience
Better sleep and nervous system regulation
A greater sense of self-awareness and connection
Results vary by individual, but many users report subtle yet meaningful shifts within the first few days—and deeper transformation with consistent use over time.
Will I feel “high” from Brain Food?
Nope—and that’s the point. Brain Food is designed for microdosing, which means the microdose is intentionally sub-perceptual. You won’t hallucinate or feel out of control in any way. Most people report feeling clear, calm, focused, and subtly uplifted.
Who should not microdose?
Microdosing may not be safe for everyone. You should avoid using psilocybin or Brain Food if:
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You have a personal or family history of schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder, or psychosis
You are currently taking SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, or other psychiatric medications without medical supervision
You have a seizure disorder, significant liver/kidney disease, or a serious cardiovascular condition
You are under 21 years old
If you’re unsure, consult with a licensed medical or mental health professional before starting.
Are there side effects?
Most people tolerate microdosing well, but some may experience:
Mild nausea or brain fog (often due to the Lion’s Mane or psilocybin dose being too high)
Niacin flush—a warm, tingling redness of the skin that lasts 20–40 minutes (this is harmless but surprising if you’re not expecting it)
Sleep disruption if taken too late in the day
Emotional surfacing—old emotions or patterns may arise as the brain rewires (this is part of the process, but can be uncomfortable)
Sticking to a consistent schedule, staying well hydrated, and listening to your body can help minimize these effects.
Is it safe to take every day?
No, and it’s not recommended. Microdosing works best when your brain has time to integrate and reset. Taking psilocybin daily can build tolerance, reducing its effects and overloading your serotonin receptors.
We recommend the 4 days on, 3 days off approach (used in the Stamets Stack), or other intermittent cycles like 1 day on, 2 days off. Cycling off completely every few weeks also helps maintain long-term benefits and avoid diminishing returns.
Where do you source your ingredients from?
We take pride in using the highest quality ingredients available. Our psilocybin is lab grown in food grade facilities. Our Lion's Mane is sourced from Fungi Perfecti - the retail company of world's lead mycologist Paul Stammet - a true hero of our time whom we deeply appreciate and admire. Lastly, our Niacin is intentionally sourced for high efficacy. Our gel capsules are made of gelatin - not vegan.
How do I take Brain Food?
Begin in the morning, ideally on an empty stomach or with a light meal. Take the mushroom capsule (large beige) first with a glass of water. Wait 10-20 minutes before taking the niacin, giving your body some time to begin breaking down the mushroom capsule.
Will Niacin give me discomfort?
Niacin makes your blood flush/rush, which carries the nutrients throughout your body and helps the compounds cross the blood-brain barrier. This flush is temporary and it means the niacin is working to enhance absorption and blood flow. It is normal to experience pink or red cheeks, an itchy feeling all over, waves of heat, pins and needles. If these sensations last longer than 30 minutes, you should stop taking Brain Food and ask your doctor if Niacin is safe to use before continuing the protocol.
Taking with a light meal reduces the sensations, and your body walso adjusts in time.
How much psilocybin is in each dose?
We make two strengths of Brain Food - 50 mg MM (microdose mushroom) for people 155lb and under, and 100 mg MM for 155lbs and over. This amount is sub-perceptual - strong enough to create change in the brain, without causing undesired effects.
How long does it take to feel results?
Some people notice subtle shifts within the first few days—like a lighter mood, better focus, or fewer reactive thoughts. For others, benefits build gradually over 1–3 weeks of consistent use.
Brain Food is designed to support long-term changes through neuroplasticity, so while you might feel a difference quickly, the deeper transformation comes with time and intention.
Can I take Brain Food while working?
Yes, you can absolutely go about your regular day, including work, working out, driving your car, taking care of your kids, etc. Because the very small amount of microdose mushroom is sub-perceptual, it won’t impair any physical or mental function any way. In fact, users report increased productivity, clearer thinking and more emotional ease on workdays.
That said, if you’re new to microdosing and apprehensive, we recommend starting on a low-stakes day so you can tune into how it feels for you without pressure.
How should I store Brain Food?
Store Brain Food in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from direct sunlight, moisture or heat. A cabinet or drawer is perfect. If you live in a humid climate, you can refrigerate it for extra freshness—but avoid freezing.
Are your gel caps vegan?
No. Our gel capsule's are gelatin - not vegan.
What if I miss a dose?
No worries - just skip it and continue your schedule as planned. Do not double up the next day. The Brain Food protocol is about consistency over time, not perfection. Missing a day won’t set you back, and your brain still benefits from the cycle as a whole.
Can I take Brain Food while using other medication or supplements?
In most cases, yes. Brain Food is generally safe to combine with other wellness supplements like adaptogens, nootropics, or herbal teas. That said, it is suggested to avoid combining it with:
SSRIs, SNRIs, or MAOIs (unless under medical supervision)
Blood thinners, anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications
High doses of caffeine or stimulants, especially early on
If you’re unsure, consult your healthcare provider - especially if you're on medications or managing a medical condition.
Can I combine Brain Food with therapy, meditation, or journaling?
Absolutely - we highly recommend it! Brain Food - and microdosing in general - works best when paired with intention, integration and inner work - like journaling, breathwork, talk therapy, mindfulness or creative practices. Brain Food creates the neurological openness that, when paired with expertly crafted integration methods, can be used to rewire and transform your whole life.
Support and Community
We are creating a journal called Rewired to support this exact kind of integration. Pairing your microdose with reflection can lead to deeper insights, stronger habit shifts, and long-term personal growth.
